Letter from the Editor-In-Chief

It is a pleasure to present the first issue of the eighth volume of the Spanish Journal of Soil Science. This time it is a special issue that contains eight articles selected from the communications submitted to the VII Iberian Congress of Soil Sciences (CICS 2016), whose invited editors are Dr. Ana Moliner and Dr. Maria Manuela Abreu. These articles deal with topics of great interest in soil management in the Iberian peninsula, such as efficiency in the use of water and nutrients, soil pollution, management of natural areas and Mediterranean crops such as olive trees, among others.

During this last year the SJSS has achieved: remaining in the 3rd quartile within the Scopus citation metrics, being included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) as a preliminary step in obtaining a JCR, and recently, being part of the REDIB platform. This could not have been possible without the quality work done with enthusiasm by the editorial team. On behalf of it, we thank the authors for sending the works, the invited editors (Dr. Ana Moliner and Dr. M. Manuela Abreu) for the extreme care and rigor in the selection and revision of the manuscripts, the referees for the quality of the reviews, and finally the Universia team for their professionalism in editing and managing the platform.

Sincerely,

Rosa M. Poch
